5 Ingredient Chocolate Cherry Protein Brownies

Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe

I’m pretty sure that brownies are my favorite dessert of all time. Top them with ice cream and I’m sold. These 5 Ingredient Chocolate Cherry Protein Brownies are easy to make and low calorie so you can enjoy them without completely blowing your diet.

I use NSA Cherry Pie Filling for this recipe because I usually have a can on hand for when I’m putting together some easy desserts. This is definitely one of the easiest and tastiest. You can even make frosting with the leftover filling by just mixing it with a little cacao powder.

Delicious Cherry Infused Brownies

First you’re going to mix all of your dry ingredients together, which is basically the protein powder, cacao powder, and baking powder. Once you’ve got all your dry ingredients mixed well, add the peanut butter and mix until everything is smooth.

For the cherries, you’re going to take them out of the can leaving as much of the filling behind and just taking the cherries. Leave the filling on the side if you are going to use it for frosting. Fold the cherries in with the rest of your ingredients. Once you’ve got everything mixed well, spread the batter into an 8 x 8 prepared pan and bake at 350° for 25 minutes. If anything you want to slightly undercook them so that they stay nice and soft. If you prefer a crispier brownie, bake it for an additional 5-7 minutes.

Now to make the frosting, all you have to do is add 60 grams of the left over pie filling with about 10 grams of cacao powder. I also suggest adding a little liquid Stevia to give it a sweeter taste but not too much. You don’t want to over power the cherry flavor of the frosting.

Ingredients

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

4 Tbsp cacao powder

1 20 oz. can of No Sugar Added Cherry Pie Filling

1 tsp baking powder

1 scoop protein powder (I used Dymatize Birthday Cake Flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350° and grease an 8 x 8 baking dish
  2. Mix together all of your dry ingredients
  3. Add the creamy peanut butter to the dry ingredients and mix well
  4. Open the can of NSA Cherry Pie filling and take out the cherries leaving as much of the filling behind. Set the filling aside for later use.
  5. Fold the cherries into the rest of the ingredients
  6. Spread the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Bake the brownies at 350° for 25 minutes

Notes

I used Dymatize ISO 100 for these brownies but feel free to use your protein of choice. If you prefer slightly crispier brownies over gooey ones, bake the brownies for 5-7 minutes longer depending on how crispy you like them.

For the frosting, mix together 60 grams of pie filling with 10 grams of cacao powder. I suggest adding some sweetener like liquid stevia to give the frosting a slightly sweeter taste.

Ingredients

60 grams NSA Added Cherry Pie Filling (Filling only, no cherries)

10 grams Cacao Powder

Instructions

Mix together your ingredients until they make a nice thick frosting. You can add more or less of either ingredient until it is the consistency that you want.

Notes

You can make more of the frosting by doubling or tripling the ingredients. I sometimes make extra and store it in the fridge for a couple days. I use the frosting to top my mug cake or sometimes my oats. you can also make this into a protein frosting by substituting the cacao for protein powder.
